SALVIN Anthony 1799-1881

A Victorian architect of exceptional talent who was commissioned to complete restoration work on a number of impressive and important properties including: Windsor Castle, the Jewel House at the Tower of London and the building of Peckforton Castle between 1844 and 1851. In 1862 he was engaged by the fourth Lord Muncaster to rebuild the Muncaster Castle.

Salvin was elected a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1836, became vice-president in 1839 and in 1863.
